The Bible says in the last days there shall be famines (see Matthew 23:7). Yes, people are starving in Africa. Yes there have been crop failures all over. Yes food prices are sky rocketing. I paid $4 per gallon of gas this month and $7.50 for a gallon of apple cider. However, if you look at America we are not starving. The poor are doing quite well. I know someone who is a hard working guy supporting his family and because he doesn't have a college degree (which is a joke, as we forget everything from college anyways hours after we graduate. 99% of the jobs that require a college degree would do just fine if they went back to the days of apprenticeship!) he makes little above minimum wage and worked 2 jobs until his new job gave him 60 hours a week. He made about $32,000 last year. He paid maybe $4,000 in taxes. His tax refund is over $8,000. Their income is poverty level yet they have a gorgeous apartment, their children look like Baby Gap kids, they have a big screen tv and cable and they are not starving. Compare "America's poor" to the middle class in a 3rd world country. And this is after God's blessings in America have been dwindling for quite some time.
Yet Jesus said in the last days there would be famines. Is America immune? We can get a McDouble for $1 and a Whopper Jr. for $1.29. We can buy in bulk at BJ's. We can super size for just 39 cents. We can double our $1 coupons at Tops. We can be like the coupon junkies and get 5 carts full for $6.27 (a savings of $3,943.34). Worst case we can go get a free meal every day of the week at Buffalo City Mission. Now so they aren't offensive, you aren't even required to sit through 30 whole minutes of a gospel message. Now that is progress.
We can dig through dumpsters and find 7 course meals tastier than the finest restaurants in Haiti. We can get pizza pizza hot-and-ready $5 cheese and pepperoni pizzas at Little Ceasers. We can stop at every bank in town and get free coffee. We can find some fresh venison from a deer that was just hit by a mack truck 20 minutes ago. Speaking of road kill, we can get good chinese lunch specials and free fortune cookies and have poor fry rye (Chinese for pork fried rice) and moo goo guy pan all ready in 5 minutes! You can go to church services and find free meals afterwards. You can get exercise walking laps around the Galleria Mall food court and get free samples of bourbon chicken every time you pass! (Might want some different outfits in case they catch on.). You could go through the garbage at ChuckECheese and find the plastic $2.99 reusable cup that someone not thinking tossed out and get free refills for life. I could go on and on. We are well fed here, and getting fatter every day. It could be a government ploy to fatten us up so they can feed us to the starving countries overseas. I don't know.
But the bible says there will be famines. And yes, in America there is a great famine indeed.
You have to go to Amos 8:11 for the famine that is hitting America. And it has been hitting and there is no relief in sight.
Behold the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord.
America, we are becoming increasing deaf to the words of God. My blog is nothing, I am merely a voice, and a long winded one at that. However, God puts things on my heart plus anything that is the Word of God is powerful and sharper than any two edged sword. There is enough God in my puny little blog to revive all of America if they would only hear it.
There is enough power to save every sinner in America on these posts if they would only hear. Most are surfing for porn and stumble on this site. They don't stay. NO PORN HERE, but glad you stopped. You will have to try the NE XXX T website, oops, the x button stuck, sorry, didn't mean to trick you and get you back on this site.
America will not hear the gospel. There is not a famine of the Gospel. It is on TV 24/7, it is preached from the pulpits almost as much as there are football games on each week. Sunday school for all ages, Sunday service, Sunday afternoon services, Sunday night services, Wednesday prayer, Thursday bible studies, Friday Addictions programs, Special meetings, missions conferences, revival meetings, youth conferences, singles activities, seniors ministries, prison bible study, men's breakfast, retreats, Camp meetings, and more. It is no wonder the Baptists don't have Bingo, there is no time. Add to that the various tracts being distributed, websites, blogs, emails, radio broadcasts, tweets, texts, YouTube videos (though they keep kicking Bro James Lyman off of Youtube for calling Rosie O'Donnel names. But Rosie, he can't help it, he was born again that way. Can't you just accept him for who he is?), Chick Tracts, banners, street preachers, and more.
.
Yet America has turned a deaf ear.
Her problem is many. Some people are just deaf. The Bible says the devil has blinded the minds of them that believe not. He probably has taken away their hearing. The gospel is preached but the devil takes away the seed right away for many stony ground hearers. Their hearts are too focused on the things of this world that they don't hear and don't want to hear. Other people hear but refuse to listen. When God spoke from Heaven, some heard God, others heard thunder. Our preaching is loud and clear often, but often they only hear thunder. You are lucky you weren't stuck by lightening.
Others don't hear because there is too much background noise. This world is loud now. It never sleeps and rarely shuts up. Every store blares rock and roll. Every kids toy that needs batteries is loud and obnoxious. It is very hard to get somewhere quiet today and hear God. God is speaking but America you are too loud to hear. Quiet everything for awhile and listen. The problem is most people don't like to be alone with their own consciences. Also, there is so much false doctrine coming across louder than the truth that the truth is just one more opinion if it does get heard..
America needs to wake up, but we need to open our ears first. The word is being preached. We need to obey it, love it, and live it. But first we need to hear it.
America, can you hear me?
