Forgiveness vs Justice.

This I posted to CNN about a lady who wanted to not only forgive the killer that murdered her family but to let him free.
That is a wonderful thing to want to forgive someone. That takes the grace of God as our normal human nature is to want revenge. However, forgiveness and consequences for actions are two separate things. A major problem with America today is there is no fear of God and no fear of punishment. Today lawyers just have to present one little nearly impossible scenario and the jurors buy into it and the guilty go free. The laws have lost their teeth and often it is just a slap on the wrist. Gun laws are not the answer. Washington DC and Chicago have the strictest gun laws in the country and they have the highest number of shootings in the nation. The 2 killers at Columbine had already broken 18 gun laws.

If the criminals know everyone is unarmed they have a field day but the liberals think gun control and removing capital punishment are God given rights. Rights come from God, not government. God is the one who originated the death penalty and it sounds harsh (God told Moses to kill the man found guilty of picking up sticks on the Sabbath in the Old Testament for example) it gave a glimpse of his holiness and the fear of God caused society around them to behave better.

Today we lost the fear of God because Preachers quit preaching on the fear of God. America has a spiritual problem and it starts with it's churches.    Freedom is not just letting the guilty go free, it is from seeing how we as a nation and we individually are guilty before God and that needs to bring us to our knees an beg the Lord to forgive us.    Only because of the grace of God for becoming our substitute on the cross is reconciliation even possible.  Every broken law must be paid for.

It is not enough to tell a judge you are sorry, it is only when the crime has been paid for that the criminal is free to go. A good judge must punish sin, not weigh our good vs. our bad.  Jesus is not only the creator of the universe but the Judge of the Universe teaches the Bible.  He is who you will face one day and he put the law on our hearts.  We know right from wrong.  Ever told a lie? Stolen? Used God's name in vain? Looked with lust? (Jesus said that is adultery) and The Bible says hatred is murder. If honest, you would admit to being a liar, a murder, an adulterer, a blasphemer and a thief. That is the big issue. You have to face God on judgment day.   Innocent or Guilty?

This is the issue.  It is not enough to be sorry. You should be sorry. Your crimes need to be paid for.

Either in Hell forever or by accepting what Jesus did on the cross by repentance and faith. That is where God's love and justice met. Where his divine mercy and his divine wrath met. Our country was different when people got right with God on an individual basis.    Our country was founded not by religion but by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is the only way by which a man can get right with God, because it is the only way God is satisfied, just like a judge being satisfied by a severe sentence for horrible crimes.  Our sins against God are horrible and sin is so horrible God himself had to die to give us a way of escape.  Good works and merely asking God to forgive and save you will not cut it.

That is how you get right. The fear of God which only comes by the conviction of breaking his laws. This puts inward morality in you and puts the fear of God in you and then you see you need a big God not a big government. Our country has lost that and that is why we are headed for destruction, and judgment, and why we lost God's hand of protection and living on the fumes of our past as far as the blessings of God goes.   Wake up America. But you personally need a one on one encounter with the God of the universe to be able to think for yourself.

Sure beats letting the government and media tell you what to think --- and then spend eternity in Hell.
