Yes you do need to go to church. But you don't "got" to go to church. You get to go.
And the truth is you don't need the church as much as the church needs you.
Today's thinking is selfish and backwards. We really don't need more church today. We need to act on what we already were given. I think today there should be a church time out. Until we who profess to be saved actually go out right now with what we have been given, instead of sitting and soaking and selfishly feeding our selves, we have no right eating any more meals at the house of God. We are like a family going to Outback for steaks for 4 pm dinner, Olive Garden for all you can eat pasta at 6 pm and then to the Chinese buffet for 7 pm dinner. Dairy Queen for dessert of course. Then Tim Hortons for coffee and donuts after that. While the world around you is starving.
The lost is dying and going to hell, and we are playing church. When will it dawn on us that this is not a game? That there is a real lake of fire out there that will devour anyone in it's path?
JESUS is coming. We are in 2 Minute Warning mode. The game is almost over, we don't know if we have a time out left or not, and the referee has blown the whistle. There is no next season and once the whistle blows that is it. Jesus says COME UP HITHER and the dead in Christ shall rise and the small children and the babies and the believers will be caught up in the air with Jesus himself. We are right now too caught up with the affairs of this world to care. Some folks will find out too late the reason they were playing church is because they were never saved. When it is game over, you will know for sure who was merely pretending. I will say it again Jesus is coming.
I have to head off for church now, seriously.
But I am trying, folks to get the right balance. Love the church like Jesus does, but cry over the sins of the church like the OT prophets, and cry against sin like John the Baptist, and love the lost like Jesus and preach with fire like Elijah and pray with passion like Paul, and face persecution like Stephen and love Jesus like David and walk on water like Peter and spend time with Jesus like John and make good decisions like Abraham and not love the world like Lot and not betray Jesus for money like Judas and not hate sinners like Jonah and not be lifted up like the Lucifer and not live for forbidden fruit like Eve.
America needs our prayers. And our passion for souls. And if you are willing to pay the price and count the cost, the church needs YOU. It needs to see something real. And then and maybe only then will America wake up.
